WEB: Where Everybody Belongs

WEB, or Where Everybody Belongs, is a middle school orientation and transition program that welcomes sixth- and seventh-graders and makes them feel comfortable throughout their first year of their middle school experience.

Through this nationally recognized middle school transition program, members of the eighth grade class are trained to act as positive role models, mentors and teachers who guide the sixth- and seventh-graders to discover what it takes to be successful in middle school.

Schools have reported that the WEB middle school transition program has enhanced anti-bullying efforts, reduced discipline issues, and increased school safety, creating an improved school climate and a greater sense of connection for the whole school.

WEB is about building relationships and encouraging participation.

WEB changes the relationship between the 6th graders and their new school as well as the relationship between Leaders and their school.

WEB sets the tone for the entire year not only for the 6th grade class, but also has an impact on the whole school because of the Leaders' commitment.

WEB's success is dependent upon the Leaders' ability to model what they want their school to be.

The role of the WEB student leaders typically include*:

• Spring Play Day (new WEB Leaders' first chance to experience WEB Team- and Community-Building!)
• WEB Leader training (usually happens a few weeks before school starts)
• 6th Grade Orientation 
• First day of school  
• First WEB Leader meeting
• Student Success Night 
• Attend the “Back to School Dance” with the 6th grade students
• Be available for Follow Up activities throughout the year (teaching Social & Academic Lessons to the 6th grade students)

*Some of these activities may or may not be offered throughout the year.
