School Counseling at Farnsworth Aerospace Upper
Licensed School Counselors work to address the academic, career, and social/emotional development of all students.
The mission of the Farnsworth Aerospace Upper's School Counseling Program is to prepare students for a happy and healthy life after high school through academic, social/emotional, and college/career readiness. This is done through direct and indirect services and a close partnership with students, families, staff, and community members.
What do our school counselors do to achieve Farnsworth Aerospace Upper's School Counseling Program's mission?
- Deliver SPPS Core Counseling Curriculum - classroom lessons designed to teach academic, career, social/emotional, and transitioning skills.
- Complete Small Group Counseling - small groups are completed for six to eight weeks for select students based on student data and staff/family referrals.
- Complete Individual Counseling - individual counseling is completed for many reasons including (but not limited to) academic advising for students in grades 5 and 8, crisis support, and social/emotional support.
- Serve on Multiple Teams/Committees - including but not limited to the Student Assistance Team (SAT), the Student Attendance Matters Team (SAM), and the Mental Health Team.
- Consult with parents, teachers, staff, and community members/partners to support student needs.
